| Simultaneous interpretation, as its name suggests, is almost real-time translation. The interpreter renders the message in the target-language as quickly as he or she can formulate it from the source language, while the source-language speaker continuously speaks. It is quite obvious that the benefit of this form of interpretation is non-interruption of the flow of such events as business conferences, industry forums, CEO talks etc where there is quite a large audience listening to one or a few speakers. | Consecutive interpretation, on the other hand, is when the interpreter speaks after the source-language speaker has finished speaking. It is the recommended form of interpretation for business negotiations, business interviews, press conferences, inter-governmental meetings and so on where a small-sized audience or delegates would be seated into two groups or sides of the table. | |
